Role summary

The Paul Ramsay Foundation (PRF) is looking for an exceptional leader to join the Development team as Senior Associate in Learning lives. This new role is a unique opportunity to shape PRF’s approach and grant investments, with a focus on supporting outcomes for children and young people experiencing disadvantage in learning and education. We are looking for someone who understands the complex issues underpinning outcomes for young people, and the intersections between learning, education, and other social issues (e.g., housing, justice). We are looking for a strategic thinker who can shape a long term vision, while taking a pragmatic approach to operationalising initiatives and working with stakeholders toward a vision.

The role will lead development of strategic programs in Learning Lives, one of PRF’s priority areas of focus. Through our partners, we aim to promote the life-changing influence of education and learning throughout people’s lives. The position sits in the Strategy team at PRF, a team focused on origination and development of strategies, investments, and partnerships across the Foundation. Using an analytical approach and thoughtful stakeholder engagement, this role supports PRF’s priorities and goals to help break cycles of disadvantage.

The role can be based in Sydney/Melbourne.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead development of impactful and implementable strategies and grants/investments based on research, analysis, and expertise, with a focus on education, learning, and linked drivers of outcomes
  • Working collaboratively with teams across PRF, lead development of funding programs and identify and develop partnerships and proposals for investment, conducting end to end analysis, stakeholder engagement, community engagement, design, and establishment
  • Draw on PRF, partner, and sector expertise and research to develop actionable insights to shape focus and priorities
  • Ensure strategies and evaluations are set to achieve and measure targeted outcomes, and course-correct where required 
  • Gain support across the organisation, and prepare and present documents and proposals to support Executive and Board decision making
  • Develop and manage relationships with potential partners and networks, with a focus on priority areas for the Foundation
  • Contribute to knowledge, research, advocacy, and other priorities for the Foundation as required

KEY SELECTION CRITERIA

REQUIRED:

  • Experience or interest in topics of focus, including child development, education, social policy related to outcomes for children and families
  • Strong strategy development and policy analysis skills, with ability to multi-task, problem solve adaptively, and bring in diverse sources of expertise
  • Experience leading and executing complex projects, including demonstrated success in engaging senior internal and external stakeholders, and driving collaboration and innovation
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, and ability to develop executive level presentations and memos
  • Strong analytical skills including research and strategic analysis
  • Community engagement skills and ability to engage appropriately with communities and beneficiaries, with cultural understanding

PREFERRED:

  • Lived experience or experience working directly with young people and/or in the learning and education area is desirable.
  • Experience working with policymakers, experts and/or technical specialists to deliver outcomes in relevant areas
  • Experience in the delivery and governance of funding, such as grants, commissioning, or impact investing
  • Experience working with communities and facilitating development and implementation of social programs.
  • Relevant graduate qualification or commensurate experience
