About the Organisation

Lifeline is Australia’s leading suicide prevention service. We are a national charity providing all Australians experiencing a personal crisis with access to 24-hour crisis support.

Suicide is a national crisis, and sadly Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples are twice as likely to die by suicide than the broader population.

Lifeline Australia’s vision is an Australia free of suicide. To achieve this, we are collaborating with key Indigenous Specialists to ring together those with the cultural knowledge, expertise and connection with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and those with extensive helpline delivery infrastructure and experience.

This collaboration will develop employment opportunities and pathways for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander People and ultimately provide a service that will help save Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander lives.

About the role

The purpose of this role is to coach leaders on managing a remote workforce and cultural awareness in leading Aboriginal and Torres Strait islander people. To manage all first line HR queries and employment relations cases. Implement all HR calendar events and training programs and is accountable for:

  • Advising and developing recommendations to the Executive Director People and Culture on best practice HR initiatives to attract and retain a workforce of Aboriginal and Torres Strait islander employees.
  • Conducting briefing / training sessions on the Performance appraisal & Wellbeing Dialogue Program and other People and Culture initiatives.
  • Implementing Talent & Succession Planning processes and calibrations with client groups
  • Leading the implementation of Lifeline’s Employee Benefits revamp
  • Leading, develop and implement great Workplace initiatives – to foster diversity, fun at work, Connection days.

About you

  • To be successful in this role, you will be a dynamic, self-motivated person with an undergraduate degree in Business or HR. You may also have experience in Training and organisational development and potentially a detailed understanding of Fair Work Australia and Australian employment law.

Essential Requirements

  • Relevant qualifications in Business or HR and a minimum 5 years demonstrated HR experience.
