About the Organisation

The Aged Care Workforce Remote Accord is made up of a group of employers delivering aged care services in remote and very remote areas of Australia. It was established following the release of the ‘A Matter of Care’ report by the Aged Care Workforce Strategy Taskforce in 2018, which recognised the unique needs of remote aged care workers and providers.

About the role

The Aged Care Workforce Remote Accord is seeking to expand its Leadership Group and is inviting expressions of interest from Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander candidates in the employment, aged care, or health sectors.

Key responsibilities

The Aged Care Workforce Remote Accord Leadership Group oversees the progress of Remote Accord projects and provides direction and input on the advocacy work of the Remote Accord. The Remote Accord Leadership Group meet at least quarterly and have governance oversite from the Australian Department of Health. Leadership Group members are required to attend quarterly meetings and to provide input (primarily via phone and email) to the Project Officer relating to key projects. There are also opportunities for engagement with other industry bodies and advocacy groups both within and outside the aged care sector.

About you

  • This is an identified role: we are seeking a candidate who is an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person
  • Has experience living/working in remote Australia
  • Has expertise in employment and/or aged care services OR in associated services such as healthcare services, or tertiary education and training services
  • Has leadership experience through involvement in boards or other governance roles
  • Has experience in working with Government at a local, state, or federal level
