About the role

Reporting to the Executive Team and the Board, the Operations Officer will be an integral part of the Performance Team and will work hard to ensure the whole team has the correct resources, legal advice, and budget to run innovative and impactful campaigns that win big and deliver on the issues our members care about most. Core accountabilities of the role include:

  • Being the first point of contact for office support to our teams at all GetUp offices
  • Responsibility of the recruitment, onboarding, induction, training, development, and retention of the GetUp team
  • Administration of board meetings and other governance processes, ad hoc projects and events, and supervising volunteers
  • Ensuring staff engagement and wellbeing in a safe working environment with access to appropriate resources, including management of swipe cards, building maintenance, office procurement and assess management
  • Supporting the Performance Team to execute its strategy and goals, and to create the conditions for effective recruitment and retention of First Nations employees and volunteers

About you

You will be an experienced professional with a demonstrated track record of working collaboratively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and communities. To be successful in this role, you will be/have:

  • Capable of working autonomously on a range of different tasks, events, and projects
  • A high level of organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to take initiative in order get the job done and keep on track
  • Strong communication skills

Key Selection Criteria

Essential Requirements

1. Identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person. Please note: your application will not be considered if you do not clearly identify as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person under section 14 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977(NSW) and the Special/Equal Opportunity Measure under section 8(1) of the Racial Discrimination Act 1975 (Cth).

Key Position Requirements

2. Cultural competency including an understanding of the issues facing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in the workforce, and a desire to create workplaces that better develop, support and retain First Nations staff and volunteers.

3. Demonstrated technical competency in managing web-based recruitment and human resources systems as well as supporting others in troubleshooting basic IT and hardware issues such as password resets and software installs.

4. Ability to form a good rapport with a diverse range of people including First Nations volunteers, staff, and organisations.

5. Driven to learn, develop new skills and deepen your experience in operations, administration and human resources.

6. At least two years professional experience.

Desirable Requirements

7. Experience in managing the recruitment process, human resources, office management and/or non-profit organisations.
