Senior Research Fellow - Medicinal Psychedelics

Psychae Institute

Job Description

Psychae Institute is seeking an experienced, highly motivated Senior Research Fellow experienced in the medicinal psychedelics research. The fellow will be a core member of the Psychae leadership team, providing medical expertise and developing and overseeing the research programs.

The key aspects of this role are to assist in the development and execution of a psychedelic research program (product development, treatment models, clinical trials), as well as providing senior medical (psychiatric) oversight of the clinical trials.

Company Background

The global cost of mental health issues is rising and will reach $6 trillion per year by 2030, with 12 billion working days lost per year due to mental illness. However, pharmaceutical industry R&D on mental health and central nervous system (CNS) disorders has fallen by 70% in the last 10 years.

Psychedelic molecules and related compounds may offer a truly ‘disruptive technology’ that could provide new treatments for many of society’s greatest unmet medical and mental health needs. Psychedelic medicine research to date offers the prospect of higher efficacy rates, minimal toxicity, lower long-term treatment costs and customised solutions to those suffering from medical and mental health disorders.

Psychae Institute is a research centre, based in Melbourne Australia, dedicated to developing novel psychedelic therapies as registered medical treatments for mental disorders and other diseases, and as a support for psychological wellbeing. We achieve this using world-class biopharmaceutical research and development approaches within our global partner network. We envision a world where rigorously tested scientifically supported psychedelic medicines are an additional treatment option within mainstream health systems for people experiencing mental health disorders and other health conditions.
