about the role

The Senior Leader of Youth Engagement and Community Partnerships will lead QPASTT’s community-based healing including youth engagement. The position is responsible for ensuring that QPASTT’s relationships with communities from refugee backgrounds are collaborative, impactful and continue to be built on foundations of safety, trust and mutual respect. This role will ensure that survivors of torture and trauma are empowered and supported to achieve meaningful community-based healing.

What you will bring to the role and to QPASTT

Required Experience and Skills

  • It is highly desirable that you have a lived refugee or refugee-like experience.
  • Relevant academic qualifications that will contribute to our approach to community engagement, youth work, community-based healing and survivor empowerment.
  • Strong understanding of the refugee experience and community-based healing and youth engagement methodologies.
  • Values based leadership including experience in managing people and teams.
  • Transferable experience in co-designing and co-implementing community engagement activities with young people and communities from refugee backgrounds.
  • Experience in identifying opportunities to build, embed and champion the voices of people with lived experience of refugee-related trauma.
  • Leadership experience in human service delivery, risk management, diversity inclusion and achieving key strategic objectives.
  • Ability to initiate, establish, and sustain a broad range of internal and external relationships. Experience in developing trusting and strong relationships with community and sector leaders and stakeholders that builds QPASTT’s specialist influence.
  • Successful experience in change management, particularly to drive impact, innovation and a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Demonstrated ability to see the ‘big picture’ and understand the strategic context of QPASTT’s vision and purpose.
