Your new role

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced caseworker to join our Blacktown Centre for a new Casework Program. As a Caseworker for the STMP Intensive Casework Program and Men’s Behaviour Change Group Work Program at Blacktown you will be focused on supporting ATSI male clients.

You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team with casework periods of 6-12 months intensive (30 cases per year)

Your responsibilities will be to:

  • Provide quality therapeutic casework for STMP program participants focusing on behaviour change.
  • Provide intensive casework intervention as required and in consultation with the Team Leader.
  • Conduct sessions using multiple mediums including face to face, telephone, video and other mediums in accordance with RANSW policy and procedure
  • Apply person-centred, trauma-informed, MBC practice and strength-based approach to working with clients.
  • Liaise and work with key organisations including Police and Aboriginal communities.

About you:

To flourish in this role you will:

  • Formal graduate qualifications in Social Work, Psychology or other relevant disciplines.
  • Have a minimum 1 year of experience in working with families that have experienced family domestic violence.
  • Have casework experience with individuals and families. Experience working with men who are perpetrators of violence.
  • Have an understanding of men’s behaviour change practice and the issues that support collusion, coercion, or cooperative practice when working with men who use violence.
  • Have an understanding of the long-term impact that DFV has on former/ current partners and the children. Understanding of trauma-informed care principles and implementation.
  • Have an ability to provide quality therapeutic casework interventions that are person-centred, trauma-informed, strengths-based.
  • Have highly developed therapeutic skill base for assessment, engagement, case planning and working with people who have experienced loss, abuse and trauma.
  • Have a current Drivers licence
