The Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists (RANZCO) is the only college accredited to train ophthalmologists for Australia and New Zealand. We are a membership organisation, and a not-for-profit, with a focus on lifelong education and standard setting. RANZCO is centrally located in Surry Hills; we have around 30 staff.

This role is on a Permanent Part-Time basis for 20 hours a week.

This role will focus on coordinating the administrative functions that support the Education department and RANZCO members. The Education team are looking to recruit an experienced and professional administrator with exceptional attention to detail and time management skills. This is a flexible part time role and will appeal to those who thrive in a fast paced and dynamic environment where your well-developed skills will ensure high standards are achieved and maintained.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Support the Human Research Ethics Committee (HREC), including the management of HREC applications.
  • Co-ordinate RANZCO work-based assessment processes to ensure smooth delivery and compliance of trainees and assessors (Term Supervisors’ and Clinical Tutors’).
  • Monitor and address trainees’ non-compliance with work-based assessment requirements.
  • Advise the Learning Delivery Team when trainees require support on the Trainee Performance Support Pathway.
  • Monitor and address assessors’ non-compliance with role requirements (eg non-completion of assessment reports or mandated training requirements eg Supervisor and Clinical Tutors’ training modules, Operating with Respect program).
  • Administer IT systems and processes for education department activities.
  • Assist with the implementation of new IT systems and processes for education department activities.
  • Provide high-level customer support to all members and ensure key messages are delivered in an impactful manner.
  • Maintain policy and procedures for all areas of responsibility
  • Perform any other relevant tasks as directed by the Senior Manager Assessments and Examinations.

Experience

  • Experience working in customer service
  • Experience providing high-level administration support
  • Experience working in the medical, education or not for profit sector
  • Experience working with Committees
  • Exemplary interpersonal skills, including effective listening, empathy and diplomacy, and the ability to build relationships within confidential and sensitive settings

This role is located in Surry Hills, Sydney, located conveniently opposite Central Station. However, currently staff are mostly working remotely from home (supplied with suitable technology) and will do so for the foreseeable future. There will be the need to attend the office on occasion and it is envisaged that long-term there will be a hybrid office/home working arrangement.
