Relationships Australia Queensland (RAQ) has a long history of supporting people to have positive and meaningful connection – with themselves, and with the people who matter most to them. Relationship is at the heart of what we do.

All people face challenges within their relationships, particularly in times of stress or vulnerability, and this is why RAQ remains as relevant to the Queensland community today as when we first opened our doors almost 70 years ago. We work with all types of relationships, in all of their diversity, and across the lifespan, to help individuals and families find a positive path forward that contributes to their health and wellbeing.

RAQ is taking its own positive path forward as it undergoes a period of transformation with a focus on alternative service delivery channels whilst maintaining a focus on client need and clinical excellence.

about you

RAQ is seeking nominations from suitably qualified and experienced individuals to fill the position of an Non-Executive Director and to support the strategic objectives of the organisation.

Due to board renewal, we are seeking nominations from individuals who will complement and strengthen the skills and knowledge base of the existing board, specifically candidates with director or senior executive experience and accounting qualifications (i.e. CPA/CA qualified).

We are particularly interested in people with progressive approaches to governance and leadership, and executive experience in the health care or community service client services sectors (e.g. psychology, counselling, domestic and family violence, elder abuse).

Candidates must have an understanding of contemporary governance structures and processes including risk and director’s responsibilities – legal, ethical, fiduciary and financial; and a passion for strengthening leadership and governance in the not-for-profit sector. They are also to possess the following:

Qualifications, skills, and experience:

  • Strategic development and planning
  • Leadership, analytical and high level of communication skills
  • Collaborative approach, respectful and active contributor, demonstrating high levels of integrity
  • Formal qualifications in governance (e.g. AICD or GIA)

The appointment is for an initial term of three years.
