This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated and experienced family practitioner at our Ballarat centre to join Relationships Australia Victoria (RAV) in this important role with staff who have been delivering effective client focused services and outcomes for over 70 years in Victoria.

About the role

Reporting to the Senior Manager Western, your responsibilities include the provision of group work in a range of settings including kinders, schools, and other community-based settings, and the delivery of a brief home visiting service to families either in their homes or in a community setting. The purpose of the Family Practitioner role is to deliver primary prevention group work activities and early intervention services for children and parents as part of RAV’s Early Matters program.

This position is based at our Ballarat centre and is a great opportunity for a family practitioner seeking part-time work, three (3) days, 22.05 hours per week on a long-term, 24 month fixed-term contract. Pending funding review and contractual obligations, the role may be extended beyond the two (2) years.

Skills, experience and qualifications

  • Tertiary qualification in social work, psychology or similar.
  • Demonstrated experience and expertise working with children and parents, with the capacity to undertake group work interventions and a direct therapeutic home visiting service for families at risk.
  • Consistently and effectively engage and support parents in their parenting role using strengths based and family-centred practice.
  • Knowledge of parenting practices that support parent-child relationships and an understanding of the importance of the “early years” and child development.
  • An understanding of common stressors and intergenerational issues that have the potential to impact on families, including family life cycle issues, as well as a range of therapeutic and supportive approaches.

What we offer

A competitive salary package is on offer to the successful candidate with a base salary range of $84k to $90k (pro-rata) per annum, superannuation and access to salary packaging.
