headspace is the National Youth Mental Health Foundation providing early intervention mental health services to 12-25 year olds, along with assistance in promoting young peoples’ wellbeing. This covers core areas including mental health, physical health, work and study support and alcohol and other drug services.

Relationships Australia Victoria (RAV) is the lead agency for headspace Wonthaggi, which is governed by a consortium of local community organisations who provide expertise, support and advice to RAV. RAV is a secular, community-based, not-for-profit organisation with no religious affiliations who have been providing services to the Victorian community for over 70 years. Our vision is for “positive, respectful, safe and fulfilling relationships for all Australians”. Our objective is to relieve suffering, distress and helplessness and to enhance physical, social and emotional wellbeing. Our services are for all members of the community, regardless of their religion, age, gender, sexual orientation, lifestyle choice, cultural background or economic circumstances. RAV provides services from centres across metropolitan Melbourne and regional Victoria.

About the role

We are seeking an experienced health and/or community sector leader with demonstrated corporate and clinical governance skills, a commitment to the health and wellbeing of young people and a collaborative decision-making style. The Chairperson will provide leadership to the Consortium, ensuring members work effectively together to best achieve the mission of headspace Wonthaggi. The role includes mentorship of the Co-Chair (Youth Representative). This position collaborates closely with the Senior Manager Gippsland, RAV - lead agency for headspace Wonthaggi. Administrative and executive support will be provided by the Senior Manager Gippsland, RAV and the Centre Manager headspace Wonthaggi.

Experience

• Demonstrated leadership experience
• Experience as a Chairperson in a range of different roles
• Preparedness to provide effective mentorship to Co-Chair (Youth representative)

Knowledge and Skills

• Sound knowledge of corporate and clinical governance requirements and processes
• Have a collaborative style for decision making
• Demonstrated interest in the health and well-being of young people
• Communication skills including media liaison experience (desirable)

Employment Status: This position is voluntary for a fixed-term contract until 30 June 2022. Travel and related costs will be reimbursed.
