About the role

We are looking for a Senior Officer who will contribute to the ongoing development and implementation of Reconciliation Australia’s national program, Narragunnawali: Reconciliation in Education with a focus on stakeholder engagement.

As a Senior Officer, Stakeholder Engagement within Reconciliation Australia’s Narragunnawali team you will:

  • Manage Narragunnawali stakeholder engagement activities (newsletters, EDMs, social media).
  • Support the delivery of the national Narragunnawali Awards (held biennially).
  • Support the delivery of Narragunnawali events (including workshops, webinars, Learning Circles).
  • Identify opportunities to enhance and increase engagement with the Narragunnawali program.
  • Contribute to the creative development of the Narragunnawali online platform.
  • Maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, including State and Territory based education sectors (Government, Catholic and Independent) and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander education bodies.
  • Work collaboratively with Communications and Engagement team to develop and implement a Narragunnawali Communications and Engagement strategy to enhance engagement with the Narragunnawali program.
  • Promote Narragunnawali in public forums.

You must have

High level understanding and awareness of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, cultures and issues.

  1. Demonstrated experience writing for a range of audiences, including writing material suitable for publication across a range of media.
  2. Demonstrated experience in utilising digital and social media to effectively communicate with and engage audiences.
  3. Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communications skills, including the ability to represent an organisation in public forums.
  4. Excellent organisational skills and demonstrated ability to deliver program outcomes on time and to a high standard.
  5. Ability to work co-operatively in a team environment and collaboratively with other units within an organisation.
  6. Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships and strategic alliances with a wide range of stakeholders including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and organisations, Government, corporate and not-for-profit sectors.
  7. Understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander content as per school and early learning frameworks; Australian Curriculum, Early Years Learning Framework, AITSL and ACECQA standards.

Desirable

  1. Strong interest and experience in early learning, primary or secondary school settings.
  2. Experience utilising Narragunnawali curriculum or professional learning resources, and/or developing and implementing a Narragunnawali Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP).
  3. Possession of a Working with Children Check or the ability to be eligible to acquire one.

About Narragunnawali: Reconciliation in Education

Narragunnawali is a program of Reconciliation Australia that supports all schools and early learning services in Australia to develop environments that foster a high level of knowledge and pride in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories, cultures and contributions.

Narragunnawali (pronounced narra-gunna-wally) is a word from the language of the Ngunnawal people, Traditional Owners of the land on which Reconciliation Australia’s Canberra office is located, meaning alive, wellbeing, coming together and peace.

The Narragunnawali online platform is free to access and provides practical ways to introduce meaningful reconciliation initiatives in the classroom, around the school and with the community. Through the Narragunnawali platform, schools and early learning services can develop a Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP), and teachers and educators can access professional learning and curriculum resources to support the implementation of reconciliation initiatives.
