As part of the next stage of evolution for the benefit of our clients, a number of legal services practice management roles have been created to strengthen core capability and capacity.

There has never been a more dynamic time: an unprecedented demand for our services by clients, new government funding for core, essential services and an active fundraising program.

Reporting to the CEO, the Practice Director, DVUs & HJP is responsible for portfolio practice management – DVUs (Brisbane, Caboolture, Gold Coast) and HJP through strong leadership, professional supervision, and mentoring to a dedicated team and their wellbeing. You will also manage your own caseload.

Adaptable and flexible, you will be expected to provide a leadership and co-ordination approach in the development of WLSQ’s legal advice and casework work management for the three DVU locations and key ancillary services such as financial counselling and First Nations liaison & support.

You will work closely with other areas of the Service, including our Social Work team underscored by open communication, high involvement, and collaboration.

About you

  • At least 8-10 years in family law/domestic and family violence/child protection or at a comparable level
  • Experienced in legal practice management: delivery of high-quality legal programs, advice and casework services
  • Demonstrated client sensitivity and understanding of legal and social issues affecting women
  • Demonstrable leadership and staff management skills
  • A credible, engaging communicator (verbal & written)
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management
  • Recognised individual contributor and collaborator
  • Effective decision making, professional judgement and ethical behaviour
  • Demonstrable commitment to WLSQ Mission, values, feminist principles
  • Current Queensland unrestricted solicitor’s practicing certificate.
