About the opportunity

Are you outgoing and passionate about driving growth in a rapidly scaling organisation? Are you an excellent public speaker with experience in marketing and presenting? Do you have a history of helping clients succeed through their journey with a company?

Red Earth is growing and we are looking for a driven School Partnerships expert who is passionate about being part of an organisation that connects people to remote Indigenous Australia. This role will be based in an East Coast Capital with opportunities to travel to interstate capital cities and to our beautiful partner regions in Arnhem Land, Central Australia, Lake Mungo and Cape York.

This is an opportunity to join us at an important stage in our maturation as we scale rapidly to ‘close the gap’ and play a leading role in the emerging Australian social-enterprise sector.

Team Outline

We are a small social enterprise with 22 employees (FTE) passionate about connecting people to remote Indigenous Australia. We do this by building 6 – 10-day immersion programs where small groups of high school students travel to remote Indigenous communities and homelands to learn from Elders and their families, visit cultural sites, and contribute to a service project in the community. As we are a small organisation, you will work closely with all members of the team and develop an understanding of all facets of our business.

You will be based in an East Coast capital city office with the chance to travel once a year to remote areas in Cape York, Arnhem Land, Central Australia or Lake Mungo National Park. You will be high-energy, have a pragmatic ‘get things done’ approach to client relationships, and a real passion for Indigenous Australia and working with young people.

Role Outline

You will report to the Business Development Manager and work closely with the regional delivery teams to execute growth strategies for groups travelling to our partner Indigenous homelands. Specifically, the role has the following main components:

  1. Frontline Presenting: you will follow up on leads; present to groups (especially groups of parents and students), and for many clients, you will be the face of the company throughout their Red Earth journey.
  2. Managing account relationships
    • Maintaining regular and professional communication with schools
    • Presenting our 2 pre-departure sessions at schools in person or virtually
    • Attending a reflection evening and development meeting post-immersion
    • Providing groups with timely information about their program as provided to you by the regional delivery teams
  3. Product Development: you will work closely with the regional delivery teams to ensure client feedback is looped back into product improvements, helping to shape our offering for the future.

You will be involved in each stage of our growth cycle and develop a detailed understanding of all facets of Red Earth’s operations.

Desired Knowledge, Skills & Experience

  • Experience in front-line presenting or sales roles, especially in a practical, hands-on role
  • Experience working with schools or in tourism
  • Excellent public speaking skills and interpersonal skills
  • Attention to detail and an ability to coordinate and manage many client relationships
  • Highly skilled in the Microsoft suite
  • Tertiary qualification ideal but not essential

Other Requirements

  • “Up-to-date”/fully vaccinated for COVID-19, or hold a medical exemption
  • Hold an unrestricted driver’s license
