An exciting opportunity exists to join our team and play an important leadership role in Respect Victoria, leading and driving long term systemic change in the prevention of family violence and all forms of violence against women.

The General Manager, People and Operations will provide strategic leadership and oversee the critical corporate backbone functions to support the organisation to operate efficiently and effectively, and maintain a positive, supportive and collegiate culture.

Balancing strategic leadership and active participation in the operations function, with support from a multidisciplinary team, this role oversees human resources, financial management, procurement, privacy, risk, compliance, and administration. This will include oversight and support to organisation change processes, including ensuring our corporate service programs are effectively embedded in business-as-usual activities, and managing important strategic partnerships for the organisation.

This position will report directly to the CEO, will engage regularly with the Senior Executive Team, and form part of the organisation’s extended leadership team.

Are you

  • Passionate about supporting the organisation to deliver on its work in ending violence against women and family violence?
  • A skilled people leader, with experience in change management, who is able to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders?
  • An experienced senior manager in corporate operations, possibly in a government context, with demonstrated experience in delivery of fit for purpose systems, process and policies to support operational integrity and high performance?

Respect Victoria

Respect Victoria is a Statutory Authority under the Prevention of Family Violence Act 2018 (the Act). Respect Victoria, by its establishment fulfils Recommendation 188 of the Royal Commission into Family Violence. Respect Victoria will deliver on the commitments legislated in the Act and the objectives outlined in Free from Violence: Victoria’s strategy to prevent family violence and all forms of violence against women. Respect Victoria is governed and led by a skills-based Board and Chief Executive Officer.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Demonstrated senior management experience in corporate operations of at least five years.
  • Demonstrated experience in designing or implementing responsive and effective human resources and people management processes, systems or approaches.
  • Experience in leading and coaching staff and supporting executive leadership through change and growth.
  • Demonstrated experience in effective project management, including in scheduling and prioritising change programs, communicating change effectively, and ensuring staff feel comfortable and understand what is required of them.
  • Experience leading change through developing fit-for-purpose systems, processes and policies to support operational integrity and high performance.
  • Specialist knowledge and demonstrated experience in the delivery of corporate services and HR.
