The Program Support Officer (PSO) - Community Transport will be based in either Heathcote or Rochester. This casual role will cover staff leave and volunteer training days.

Proudly serving Australians since 1928, the Royal Flying Doctor Service provides emergency aeromedical and health care services for people in rural and remote regions across Australia.

The Position

The Flying Doctor Community Transport program is currently delivered in the central Victorian towns of Rochester and Heathcote. In 2022, the service is expanding to multiple locations across Victoria.

Responsible for assisting with the day-to-day operations related to the Flying Doctor Community Transport program throughout Victoria, this program plays an integral part to supporting RFDS Victoria’s vision to bring health care services to those who are otherwise unable to access them.

The PSO will support the Program Coordinator/s to deliver a quality service including volunteer, stakeholder and client liaison and will prioritise customer service and the provision of a person-centred service at all times, with the service receiving a high volume of calls for client bookings.

The PSO takes a detailed hands-on approach to operational coordination and is responsible for supporting the daily administration associated with the delivery of the service including accepting bookings for transport, scheduling transports in Traeger CT and being a point of contact for Volunteers when required.

The role will also assist with trip and travel logistics, team and stakeholder relationship support and finance processing to ensure effective and timely delivery of the service.

Assist Program Coordinator/s with training and onboarding of volunteer drivers including recruitment support, credentialing document preparation & storage, organising training details and organising uniforms.

Responsibilities

All aspects of administering the Flying Doctor Community Transport service including:

  • Registering new clients
  • Answering client phone calls and taking bookings
  • Scheduling client trips
  • Setting up rosters on scheduling platform
  • Vehicle fleet management and servicing requirements

  • Willingness to travel regularly, possibly across the state

Desirable

  • Understanding of Home Care Package, My Aged Care, Social Support and NDIS
  • Experience working with vulnerable and diverse populations
