Board Member (Voluntary) - Flexible Location

The Board is responsible for the overall strategic direction of RIAC and operates with the RIAC CEO and Executive Team to set strategies for the organisation.

Desirable Characteristics

  • Governance competencies
  • Industry knowledge and/or experience,
  • Strategy development and implementation experience.
  • An ability to work cooperatively, a personal commitment to RIAC's vision; and willingness to work to achieve its objectives.

Specific attributes

  • Knowledge, understanding and experience of financial management
  • Fundraising in the not-for-profit sector
  • Government relations, political advocacy and legal issues relevant for disability advocacy and support.
  • A commitment to community service and the not-for-profit sector.
  • An understanding of operating in regional areas
  • An understanding of, and experience in governance
  • Ability to relate to a diverse group of stakeholders

Your Commitment:

  • Interested applicants should be able to donate their time, expertise, contacts and influence.
  • Board meetings are conducting monthly, usually from 5:30pm on a weekday in Shepparton, with teleconference facilities.
  • Once a year on a weekend, the meeting is changed to a one-day strategic planning session.
  • Appointment terms are for 2 years with the option of further terms.
