Diploma Educator - Long Day Care Centre

Riverwood Community Centre is a Not for Profit Neighbourhood Centre that has operated in Riverwood for over 40 years, and has an outstanding reputation in working for the local community. We are a diverse organisation, structured and staffed to service a community of all ages and backgrounds.

We are currently seeking an experienced Diploma qualified Educator to work either Part Time or Full time in our Long Day Care Centre. Reporting to the Director of Early Childhood and OSHC, this role will assist in the provision of a quality Long Day Care programs, which meet the expectations of the Approved Provider, families and children. Supported by an experienced team, this position will provide care, activities and educational elements to those in the program. The successful candidate will need to provide relevant experience with children 0 - 5 yrs, along with good communication skills and experience creating and implementing programs based on children’s interests and the Being, Belonging and Becoming learning outcomes, along with sound knowledge of the NQF.

Key Responsibilities

  • To engage in supervision of all children, ensuring their well-being and safety at all times.
  • To interact with the children, implement planning and programming.
  • Support, guide and mentor educators in the team and their understanding of Being, Belonging and Becoming framework and the NQF.
  • Sound knowledge of the National Law and Regulations.
  • Prepare meal times and assist in feeding children following safe food handling practices.
  • To carry out duties as directed by the Director and organisations' management.
  • Experience of creating and implementing programs based on children’s interests, development and the Being, Belonging and Becoming learning outcomes.
  • Experience in contributing to and developing aspects of a QIP and Self-Assessment tool.
  • Experience in working as part of a team to enhance the work environment.
  • Desirable: Previous experience in a similar role.

Key Requirements

  • Valid Working with Children Check for paid employment.
  • Minimum one year experience working with children.
  • First Aid Training, Anaphylaxis / Asthma trained (willing to obtain).
  • Child Protection Awareness.
  • Fully vaccinated against COVID.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to develop and maintain positive and productive relationships with the children, parents and staff.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and contribute to the needs of the service and within the team.
  • Reliable, motivated, enthusiastic and initiative.
  • Ability to document children’s learning and development.
