Migration Advisor - International Student Legal Service NSW

Redfern Legal Centre

Redfern Legal Centre is seeking a Migration Advisor to work within the International Student Legal Service NSW.

Redfern Legal Centre works to redress inequalities in the legal system that adversely and disproportionately affect people experiencing vulnerability. The Centre pursues social change and law reform to reduce these inequalities.

The International Student Legal Service NSW provides access to justice for international students throughout NSW, through the provision of legal advice and legal education on a range of legal issues, including employment, tenancy, disputes with education providers, credit & debt, fines, family law and minor criminal matters. Currently, a limited volume of migration advice is provided by volunteer migration agents.

The service has secured additional funding to expand and consolidate the migration advice service to meet the increased demand for migration advice.

This position will be based at the Redfern Legal Centre office (working remotely as required under any Health orders) and work closely with the International Student Legal Service Solicitor and the extended Redfern Legal Centre team to provide a holistic service to international students.

Status: The position is part time (7 hours per week), fixed term until 30 September 2022.

Salary and benefits: $92,950 – 100,978 p.a. pro rata ($18,590 – 20,196 for 7 hours per week) depending on qualifications and experience.

Superannuation and annual leave loading is paid in addition to this and salary packaging* is available. In addition to being a flexible workplace, RLC offers a 35 hour working week, time in lieu options and a paid Christmas closure of 2 weeks (including public holidays) on top of 4 weeks annual leave.

* As a Public Benevolent Institution, Redfern Legal Centre is able to offer staff generous salary packaging options. The tax savings for a staff member choosing to take full advantage of the salary packaging option mean that their take home salary may be increased by up to $6,000 per annum.
