ABOUT THE ROLE

The Social Work/Client Care Team at Royal Far West practice a strengths based, family centred, trauma informed approach, supporting the child’s mental health and developmental wellbeing in the wider context of their home, environment and community. This position is responsible for the provision of Social Work services to children and families referred to Royal Far West. Services are provided collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.

This role is a fixed term contract to cover secondment until 31 July 2023.

ABOUT YOU

  • Bachelor or post graduate degree in Social Work and eligibility for the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW).
  • Demonstrated extensive knowledge, skills and clinical experience with developmental, learning, behavioural, mental health difficulties and child protection concerns in children and young people.
  • Demonstrated high level skills in assessment, case planning and working in partnership with families and local service networks.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively both independently and as a member of a multidisciplinary team
  • Demonstrated understanding of the issues faced by CALD and Aboriginal communities within the context of health and family wellbeing.
  • Experience managing a demanding workload, apply high level reasoning skills and have independent professional judgement.
  • Highly developed written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated computer literacy and ability to use health information systems.
  • Knowledge of the provision of best practice, quality improvement activities and service development.
  • Willing to participate in the provision of new programs as required, including fee for service.
  • Understand principles of Trauma Informed Practice.
  • The successful applicant will be required to provide a current Working with Children Check.
  • This role has been identified as a Category A employee and requires protection against vaccine specified preventable diseases (forms will be provided for successful applicants)

DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE

  • Demonstrated experience with Tuning into Kids and Circle of Security.
  • Accredited Mental Health Social Worker with the AASW.
  • Willing to engage in project work.
  • Evidence of relevant clinical experience, working within a community health setting that provides developmental or mental health services,
  • Willing to participate in the provision of a rural/remote outreach service.
