The Royal Women’s Hospital (RWH) is seeking appointees to its Human Research Ethics Committee (HREC). The HREC is vital to the conduct of all research projects involving humans undertaken at the Women’s. Its charter is to protect the welfare and the rights of participants in research undertaken at the hospital. This is underpinned by a commitment to research and improving women’s health.

We are seeking persons with an interest in and commitment to research involving humans and an understanding of the principles underpinning ethical issues in research.

Familiarity with the National Health and Medical Research Council National Statement on Ethical Conduct in Human Research is mandatory.

We are seeking expressions of interest from people with any of the following backgrounds:

  • Layman
  • Person with current research experience that is relevant to research proposals considered by the RWH Human Research Ethics Committee
  • Person with knowledge of, and current experience of professional care, counselling or treatment of people
  • Person who performs a pastoral care role in a community

Terms of Appointment

The appointment for all positions is for an initial period of twelve months. Members are eligible for reappointment.

Remuneration

Membership of the Committee is voluntary.
