Pets In Crisis Program Coordinator

RSPCA Qld

Join Us in Changing Lives

RSPCA Queensland is a non-government, community-based charity dedicated to improving the lives of domestic, farmed, and native animals across the state. Our mission is simple but powerful: Together We Change Lives. We are looking for a passionate and dedicated Pets in Crisis Program Coordinator to lead our impactful program supporting individuals fleeing domestic violence.

About the Role:

As the Pets in Crisis Program Coordinator, you will be at the forefront of ensuring the safety and well-being of animals whose owners are escaping domestic violence. This program, delivered in partnership with DV Connect and the Justice Department, provides safe housing for pets while their owners seek refuge. You will collaborate closely with shelter operations across Queensland, including animal care, foster, and veterinary teams, to ensure animals have access to the program and clients receive the support they need.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead Program Execution: Oversee the effective and efficient delivery of the Pets in Crisis program, including intake, extension, surrender, and return processes.
  • Primary Client Contact: Serve as the main point of contact for clients, maintaining regular communication, updating them on their pets’ progress, and coordinating safe pet transportation to RSPCA locations.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Work positively with internal RSPCA teams and external partners to ensure smooth transitions for animals in the program, providing feedback and support to both clients and stakeholders.
  • Program Success: Lead the promotion and ongoing success of the program through media activities, detailed record-keeping, and stakeholder reporting. Review and improve program processes continually to enhance efficiency.
  • Data Management: Maintain accurate records, perform timely data entry, schedule necessary appointments, and provide insights and statistics related to the program.
  • Partnership Management: Work closely with DV Connect and the Justice Department to manage program parameters, KPIs, and other requirements.
  • Travel Support: Occasionally assist with local animal transport as needed.

Who We’re Looking For:

  • Experienced Program Leader: You have experience in developing and delivering community-based programs, ideally with a focus on human or animal welfare services.
  • Collaborative Relationship Builder: Proven ability to build and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Autonomous and Team-Oriented: You can manage your workload efficiently, work autonomously when needed, and collaborate effectively with the team.
  • Exceptional Communicator: You excel in interpersonal communication and can liaise effectively with a diverse range of people.
  • Skilled Problem-Solver: Strong literacy, numeracy, and computer skills (including Microsoft Office Suite) are essential.
  • Resilient and Passionate: You thrive in fast-paced, challenging environments and have a genuine interest in animal welfare.
  • Physically Capable: Ability to perform physical duties, including manual handling of at least 10 kg, and are willing to travel as required.

Join Our Mission:

This role is full time based at our Wacol Animal Care Campus and offers you the chance to make a meaningful impact in the lives of both animals and people. If you align with RSPCA Queensland's vision and values and are ready to take on this important role, we would love to hear from you.

What we can offer you

  • 8 weeks Paid Parental Leave, Flexible Working Arrangements, Companion Animal leave and Study leave.
  • Access to a range of learning and development opportunities that will benefit and support your professional development.
  • Competitive remuneration package based on qualifications and experience
  • Access to counselling and wellness initiatives.
  • Countless opportunities to interact with the animals in our care.
