Student Community Team Leader - Events & Clubs

RMIT University Student Union Incorporated
  • Permanent Full time 5 days /week (Mon –Fri), based at RMIT CBD campus.
  • $91,173 Full time equivalent + Superannuation.

Newly created position which leads the student/campus life activities of RUSU. A fun, dynamic and fast paced role which combines the hands-on planning and delivery of a diverse program of events leading the Activities & Clubs departments of a busy student-led organisation.

About The Role

The RMIT University Student Union (RUSU) is the representative body of around 75,000 RMIT University students and is an independent organisation from RMIT University. Creating a vibrant campus culture, and providing opportunities for social connections, fun and engagement outside of the classroom is core to RUSU’s purpose. RUSU delivers a diverse range of small, medium and large-scale events and festivals on campus and at external venues. We will continue to deliver some of our most successful remote/online programs developed during COVID lockdowns. RUSU also supports around 100 student run affiliated clubs to run events and activities for their members.

RUSU is excited about our return to campus and in-person events in 2022 and we are looking for a friendly and energetic leader with experience in events management and delivery to join us in the Student Community Team Leader role. This position will lead 4 full-time professional activities & clubs staff members and oversee the operations of these areas. The role involves a significant amount of ‘behind the scenes’ organisational, administrative, reporting and compliance work to support events and the team.

This position is student facing with a lot of student interaction, outreach activities and hands on events. The elected student leaders and the RUSU events volunteers play an important role in inspiring event ideas and actual event delivery. A ‘can do’ attitude, exceptional communication, organisational and administrative skills and a genuine passion for working with and mentoring young people from diverse backgrounds is essential in this role.

The position is based at RMIT in the CBD. Periodic events delivery will be required at Bundoora and Brunswick campuses and external venues. Some evening work is also required, primarily on Thursday evenings in peak events times during semester.
