Peer Settlement Support Worker - Part Time Contract

Sacred Heart Mission

Your future workplace

Sacred Heart Mission's Journey to Social Inclusion (J2SI) program is an evidence-based intervention designed to break the cycle of chronic homelessness. We know the current service system is not effective and we're taking a different approach in our goal to end homelessness.

our new role

You will be based at Sacred Heart Mission in St. Kilda. You will work with a multidisciplinary team to assist people to settle into housing, stay housed, and improve their quality of life. The role will see you working in the community and in people’s homes as you assist them to develop goals and navigate services that meet their needs to stay housed. We are looking for a dynamic and motivated person who has:

  • Experience of moving out of homelessness into long term housing
  • A desire to share their learnings and hope for recovery with others in similar circumstances
  • A commitment to undertake peer worker training and supervision
  • A strengths-based approach
  • Resilience, flexibility and dependability

Your day-to-day

While every day is different, a typical day might see you on outreach, visiting one of your many participants and supporting them to settle into their housing and connect to their community. You may then return to the office for a check-in or group reflective practice with your colleagues.

The perks of the job

  • Maximum term part time role – 15.2 hours per week up to 30 June 2023 with an ASAP start.
  • Structurally supportive work environment: regular line manager direct supervision, 1:1 clinical practice supervision, group reflective practice
  • Salary packaging your expenses up to $15,990 pre-tax
  • Access to in house training
  • Access to Employee Assistance Program
  • Being located in the heart of St. Kilda, accessible by Public Transport
