We are currently looking for a dynamic, enthusiastic and experienced manager with strong fashion and homewares retail expertise to join our Ashy Op Shop. You are creative and solutions focused with a great eye for merchandising along with a vibrant and engaging personality, and a true passion for delivering a superior customer experience. You are a proactive “hands on” leader with a positive can do attitude who leads by example.

ABOUT THE ROLE:

This is truly a rare and exciting opportunity to be part of ‘The Ashy’ Op Shop and the Samarinda family. The Ashy, located in the heart of high street, Ashburton has its own unique and vibrant personality, reflecting the location and community. It is a local favourite that has been operating since the 1960s supporting the community and environment by recycling pre-loved goods; offering quality second-hand and vintage clothing, homewares and products. All of our proceeds go towards supporting our community and residential service programs.

As the Op Shop Manager you will be responsible for all day to day operations and functions of the store, ensuring high levels of customer service and community engagement, driving sales, creating a safe, well presented welcoming store for shoppers along with a positive workplace and volunteering environment. You will supervise, lead, train and develop team members (employees and volunteers) and coordinate and maintain the Volunteer Program. We are looking for someone who can work Monday to Friday and also be available on Saturdays (with option to rotate weekends).

As our next Op Shop Manager you will have:

  • Retail store management experience
  • Proven people management skills and experience, and can inspire and build your team
  • Strong visual merchandising and styling skills with a great eye for creating fashion displays and making the store attractive
  • High level interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain positive relationships
  • Passionate about delivering great customer experiences
  • Ability to manage competing priorities, tasks and overall expectations
  • Knowledge of programs such as Microsoft Office Suite and ecommerce platforms and social media
  • Experience working in an Opportunity Shop (highly desirable)
  • Experience managing and coordinating volunteers (highly desirable)
  • Certificate in Retail Operations / Diploma of Business (highly desirable)
  • Desire to make a real difference and work within the values of Samarinda

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensure shop operations, retail standards and requirements are implemented and maintained
  • Roster management to ensure adequate team members
  • Assist with recruitment, on-boarding, orientation and training of new team members
  • Manage donations, stock, and merchandising of the store
  • Ensure store is always well presented, tidy and engaging for customers
  • Implement initiatives to increase customers and drive sales
  • Maintain the online shop and social media
  • Coordinate The Ashy Op Shop Volunteers Program
