SA Unions is South Australia’s united trades and labour council, the peak voice for the South Australian union movement. We strive to be influential in improving the lives of South Australian workers by supporting South Australia's union movement, and advocating to government to influence policy in the interests of working people.

Reporting to the SA Unions Secretary, the Finance and Office Manager is a critical member of our team and a trusted advisor across our operations. SA Unions is growing and motivated, and we need you to help us grow, maintain our reporting systems and to manage our financial performance. In addition, you'll be the key person responsible for the management of the office for our small team, including:

  1. Maintain office services by organising office operations in consultation with SA Union employees
  2. Reviewing and approving supply requisitions, ordering stationery and equipment
  3. Liaise with facility management to maintain office condition

Skills Required

We're looking for someone with proven experience in a financial and operational management role in a union, civil society organisation or NGO. You'll be working with minimal supervision so will need to demonstrate experience in managing organisational budgets and financial affairs to meet accounting standards and financial frameworks.

  1. Producing financial reports related to budgets, account payables, account receivables, expenses
  2. Budget preparation, review and management
  3. Preparation of annual accounts for audit and annual statutory reporting
  4. Day to day financial operations such as payroll, invoicing and other transactions
  5. Develop, implement and monitor appropriate financial systems, procedures and internal controls
  6. Demonstrated commitment to union values and integrity

Other desirables

  1. Process focussed and comfortable with modern accounting and workflow management programs
  2. Collaborative – share ideas and opinions and work together towards a common goal
  3. Knowledge of Labor Council and ACTU structures and activities
  4. Familiarity with union coverage and priorities in South Australia

Part time 0.6 FTE, $50,000 p.a.

Reporting to the Secretary, SA Unions.

Employment conditions subject to the SA Unions Enterprise Agreement.

Flexible working arrangements and attractive additional leave entitlements including 12 rostered days off per year (pro rata for part time) and Christmas shutdown leave.

Whilst the position is based in the Adelaide CBD, staff have access to remote working options.
