At our Bridges crisis accommodation service in Brisbane, we provide women and children escaping DFV with urgent safe accommodation when they have nowhere else to go. Where you come in:

In this part time (4 days per week) parental leave cover position through to July 2022, you'll work as part of a team to provide coordinated support to families. You'll provide crisis intervention and support to children who have witnessed domestic and family violence and collaborate with their carer, implementing our trauma informed child-focused framework. You'll be required to take part in a rotating roster working between 7am and 10pm Monday to Saturday. There are also additional rostered on call responsibilities.
You will make an impact by:

  • Directly supporting children and young people experiencing DFV to enjoy safer lives
  • Conducting group activities that will support parent/child attachment and healthy development
  • Enhancing child focused practice in the region both within Save the Children and more broadly in the community
  • Connecting families with the services they need and providing appropriate referrals

Does this sound like you?

You have experience within the domestic and family violence sector and are passionate about children's rights. You know how to respond well in crisis and how to work with children who have experienced trauma. You're able to work independently and take initiative while working within the role boundaries.

This role requires:

  • Degree qualification in Children's Services or relevant Human Services field (there may be some flexibility on this requirement if you can demonstrate significant experience in a similar service)
  • Solid understanding of child development and the impact of trauma on children and young people
  • Experience working with children and young people from a child-centred framework
  • Flexibility to work required shifts
  • Current driver's licence
