Where you come in:

In this part-time, maximum term position (22.8 hours per week through to end of March 2024, with potential for extension) based in Doomadgee, you'll work collaboratively with counselling and other community based support services to aid the recovery and healing journey of young people (12 to 17) and adults who have experienced sexual violence. Reporting to our Regional Manager, you'll be part of our North West Queensland Team.

You will make an impact by:

  • Identifying and fostering relationships with existing community leaders, groups and support providers
  • Providing individual centred family focussed support to individuals to increase their safety
  • Working collaboratively with community support providers to aid the recovery and healing journey

Does this sound like you?

You're an experienced support worker, with a keen interest in supporting individuals and families with their journey to recover, heal and increase safety. You have high levels of initiative and flexibility alongside cultural sensitivity and knowledge. Importantly, you have a thorough knowledge of the impacts of both sexual and domestic and family violence on children and their families and individuals.

This role requires:

  • A Bachelor qualification in a Human Services area and/or significant experience in a similar service
  • Knowledge and understanding of sexual violence and domestic and family violence, including the impact on children and families
  • Understanding of working within the dynamics of community, including the impact of intergenerational and interpersonal trauma
  • Experience working with families from Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander heritage
  • Current full driver's licence
