Save The Children

Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of children and families across Brisbane? As part of our Intensive Family Support service, we need you to join our team of dedicated professionals, helping to maximise their impact on the lives of vulnerable families. In this varied and challenging role, you'll help give families the tools they need to thrive.

Save the Children is no ordinary not-for-profit.

We're ambitious, creative and outspoken. We stand up for children's rights. We want all children to be educated, healthy and live a life free from violence. We've been working with families and communities in Queensland as a trusted support for children for nearly 70 years. More information on our work in Queensland is available here.

Where you come in

In this full-time, fixed term contract position through to end of May 2022, you'll work within a case management framework in an outreach role, providing support to families with multiple and complex needs to improve the safety, health and wellbeing of children. Based in Brisbane, you'll work flexible hours between 7am and 7pm Monday to Friday, and will report to our Team Leader.

You will make an impact by:

  • Supporting families with vulnerabilities who have children aged 0-18 years through aligning with the parents/carer to reach their parenting and child/family wellbeing goals
  • Ensuring the voices of children and young people are heard
  • Increasing (as required) the formal and informal networks of CALD families to enable long term community support and increased knowledge of Australian systems
  • Building and maintaining strong networks and partnerships with relevant services to ensure effective referral pathways

Does this sound like you?

You're an experienced practitioner who is passionate about supporting families within a child centred, strengths-based framework. Importantly, you have a strong understanding of the impact of trauma on children and their families and you're keenly aware of the additional impacts and barriers experienced by CALD families.

This role requires:

  • Demonstrated experience in case management and knowledge of relevant legislation
  • Demonstrated experience working with CALD children and families
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and families

  • Tertiary qualification in a relevant field and/or significant experience working in a similar service

Working at Save the Children is more than just a job
