1 in 5 Aussie kids are living in poverty and 15% of children live in families where nobody has a job. Children are facing more and more challenges to their development. At Save the Children, we provide critical support to these vulnerable families.Through the delivery of parenting support to vulnerable and disadvantaged families in Northern Tasmania, you'll build family capacity in a partnership service model, using strengths-based and family-centred approaches.

In this part-time, fixed term position (4 days per week through to end of June 2022, with strong potential for extension), you'll be responsible for the day to day delivery of the Intensive Family Engagement Services (IFES) program in Northern Tasmania. You'll work to build a structure of safety and sustainability while providing evidence-based parenting education programs and modelling appropriate parenting techniques. Working intensively with the families, you'll build the strength, capacity and protections required for families to provide a consistent, safe, and nurturing home environment for their children. Based in Devonport, you'll report to our Team Leader Family Services.

You're a natural communicator, with strong counselling and interpersonal skills including the ability to negotiate and advocate on behalf of families. You have an in-depth understanding of the importance of the "early years" and child development, including the impact of trauma on child development. You're willing to work within a flexible service delivery model, with some out of hours work including early mornings and early evenings.
