Save The Children

We are unflinching in standing up for the rights of children, and we want you to help us ensure their voices are heard. Grow Well Live Well (GWLW) is a community initiative funded to facilitate placed-based community led decision making about future service design and delivery, to coordinate and integrate services to improve wellbeing of children and young people and enhance the evidence base for early intervention and prevention services specifically for child and family safety and wellbeing in Palmerston through a Collective Impact approach.

GWLW has established a Backbone Team to support the work, located in Palmerston. The GWLW Leadership Group provides the collective strategic leadership over the project to drive community decisions and actions, partnering with representatives from nine not-for-profit organisations, the NT and Australian Governments. This position joins the Backbone Team to provide ongoing support, guiding GWLW's vision and strategies, building public will and mobilising resources.

Save the Children is no ordinary not-for-profit.

We're ambitious, creative and outspoken. We stand up for children's rights. We want all children to be educated, healthy and live a life free from violence. We run programs in Australia and overseas and, if there's a disaster - like an earthquake, drought or conflict - we are there on the ground.

  • Coordinating and managing the administration needs of the GWLW Backbone Team, acting as the first point of contact for all internal and external stakeholders
  • Ensuring the efficient and effective running of the site in a proactive and professional manner
  • Providing effective administration and general support, in line with organisational goals
  • Establishing and actioning systems and procedures to share content that builds meaningful connections and engages community members via online media

You have high-level and robust policy analysis skills, paired with an ability to engage both critically and constructively with government and partners on matters important to Palmerston. Your flexibility and drive alongside strong time management and organisational skills sees you successfully work under pressure, in a complex environment, to tight deadlines. You have a 'can-do' attitude, demonstrate an infectious enthusiasm for your job and inspire others to achieve great change. You have an in-depth understanding and proven experience in using an array of advocacy tools to influence change, including private and public advocacy.

This role requires:

  • Ability to support both the strategic and operational activities of the project
  • Demonstrated ability to work respectfully and sensitively in a cross-cultural context with understanding of collective cultures and contemporary issues within high needs communities
