Where you come in:

In this part-time (30.4 hours), fixed term position through to June 2023 (with potential for extension), you'll join a team of skilled and committed domestic and family and child focused specialists and play a key role in supporting to shape and develop practice within our DFV refuge environments.

You'll provide crisis support within a team-based environment to women and children accessing the service and specialist practice support to refuge staff in these settings.

Reporting to the Team Leader and based in Brisbane, you'll work shifts between 7am - 10pm, Monday to Saturday with additional on call responsibilities.

You will make an impact by:

  • Supporting the Team Leader to develop, monitor and review practice aimed at improving outcomes for service users including children
  • Providing coaching and mentoring to our DFV Family and Child Support Specialists
  • Supporting and strengthening informal and formal external networks with likeminded organisations and professionals
  • Providing support to women and children within a crisis accommodation context

Does this sound like you?

You have extensive training and experience in the Domestic and Family Violence sector and with working with children and young people.

You're highly adaptable with high levels of initiative and able to confidently assess risk and develop comprehensive safety plans according to individual need.

This role requires:

  • Qualifications in a relevant Human Services field OR significant relevant experience
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills with the ability to lead, coach and develop a team, as well as work effectively in a team
  • Demonstrated skills, knowledge, understanding, and experience working with families that are living with trauma and other impacts of domestic and family violence
  • Demonstrated experience in using trauma informed practice and in working within Practice Frameworks
  • Highly developed verbal and written communication skills
