Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus Queensland (SBH Queensland) is Queensland's leading community organisation for people with Spina Bifida and/or Hydrocephalus and their families. We also provide services and support for people living with disability due to other conditions.

Our team includes physiotherapists, occupational therapists, social workers, an education advisor and speech pathologists.

ABOUT THE ROLE

  • Fixed-term contract of three (3) years
  • Part-time position - 19 hours per week
  • Work from home offered 1-2 days per week

KEY POSITION OBJECTIVES

  • Provision of high-quality Occupational Therapy services to SBH Queensland clients to meet identified goals for independent living and capacity building across the lifespan.
  • Contribute to discipline specific and multidisciplinary group capacity building programs for SBH Queensland clients, such as community access programs, work readiness programs, cognitive skills programs and living skills programs.
  • Contribute to development of effective information resources relevant to the SBH client community.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of SBH Queensland services.
  • Contribute to the effective working of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Optimise NDIS and fee-for-service billing.
  • Provide Occupational Therapy assessments and design, implement and evaluate interventions for SBH Queensland clients.

MANDATORY CRITERIA

  • Tertiary qualifications in Occupational Therapy
  • Registration with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  • Queensland C Class licence
  • Ability to travel to regional areas and participate in some overnight and weekend work as required.
  • Current Yellow Card Exemption/Worker Screening Clearance (must have prior to commencement).
  • Current Blue Card (must have prior to commencement).

DESIRABLE CRITERIA

  • Experience working as an Occupational Therapist within the disability sector and the NDIS.
  • Experience prescribing a range of assistive technology, including equipment for continence & self-care needs, and home modifications.
  • Experience working as a member of a multidisciplinary team in an allied health setting.

KEY SELECTION CRITERIA

  • Sound knowledge of and experience with the assessment and treatment of children and adults with physical and learning disabilities.
  • An understanding of and commitment to the mission, values and goals of SBH Queensland.
  • A demonstrated ability to be self-motivated and to work independently and flexibly.
  • Possession of a high-level of organisational and time management skills with the ability to prioritise a workload effectively.
  • Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively in a team environment with skills in problem solving, conflict resolution and giving and receiving feedback.
  • Well-developed interpersonal and oral and written communication skills in dealing with clients, families, other staff and service providers.
