Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus Queensland (SBH Queensland) is Queensland's leading community organisation for people with Spina Bifida and/or Hydrocephalus and their families. We also provide services and support for people living with disability due to other conditions.

Our team includes physiotherapists, occupational therapists, social workers, an education advisor and speech pathologists.

ABOUT THE ROLE

  • Fixed-term contracts of three (3) years
  • A full-time or two part-time positions available
  • Work from home offered 1-2 days per week

MANDATORY CRITERIA

  • Tertiary qualification in Speech Pathology
  • Member of Speech Pathology Australia
  • Queensland C Class licence
  • Ability to travel to regional areas and participate in some overnight and weekend work as required.
  • Current Yellow Card Exemption/Worker Screening Clearance (must have prior to commencement)
  • Current Blue Card (must have prior to commencement)

DESIRABLE CRITERIA

  • To have experience working as a Speech Pathologist within the disability sector and/or NDIS
  • Understanding and knowledge of children's needs to apply to the classroom settings
  • Understanding and knowledge of NDIS Early Childhood Pathways
  • Experience working as a member of a multidisciplinary team in an allied health setting

KEY POSITION OBJECTIVES

  • Deliver innovative Speech Pathology services to enhance client’s everyday lives, wellbeing, and participation in the community.
  • Deliver Speech Pathology services and support using evidence based and best practice guidelines across the following areas: early intervention, school setting, in the community – including close working relationships with the specialist medical team at the Queensland Children’s Hospital and some other tertiary hospitals throughout Queensland.
  • Provide services to NDIS participants to meet organisational KPI's
  • Undertake assessments and provide intervention for adult and paediatric clients.
  • Compile and provide comprehensive reports and intervention plans and programs.
  • Contribute to discipline specific and multidisciplinary group capacity building programs for SBH Queensland clients.
  • Undertake outreach trips with team members to regional areas to provide individual/group intervention as well as liaison and training to local providers.
  • Contribute to development of effective information resources relevant to the SBH client community.
  • Provision of Speech Pathology knowledge and support to Queensland schools whose students are eligible – under Education Program funding guidelines (SDSS and NSSNO).
  • Contribution to the effective and efficient functioning of SBH Queensland by liaising with the larger multidisciplinary team involved with your clients, participating in case conferences and other meetings, and being involved in project work and programs, which are relevant to Speech Pathology services.
