Sex Education Australia was founded in 2011 to develop and deliver educational programs in primary and secondary schools in Australia, as well as university students and parents and caregivers. Co-founders Justine Kiely-Scott and Jenny Ackland are committed to raising community awareness, and developing knowledge, skills and resilience in response to the ‘hot topics’ of current times: consent, sexual health, puberty education, body safety, pornography, respect, healthy relationships and others.

POSITION SUMMARY

Sex Education Australia seeks to hire a tech-savvy person to continue to help build the organisation’s digital presence, primarily in the area of social media. Working with management, the person who fills this role will be involved in producing and posting social content.

We’re looking for someone who is an excellent writer, and who understands what 'voice' and 'tone' mean. Someone who is organised, efficient, has great attention to detail, and has the highest work ethics. You should have at least 2 years of social media experience in a professional setting.

This role includes day-to-day content creation for our social media channels (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and YouTube) as well as assisting with email communications and website content as needed. The Social Media & Marketing Assistant will work with management to help implement strategic campaigns to attract new followers and build brand awareness for SEA on a national level. The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills, solid knowledge of social media platforms, marketing or communications experience, the ability to demonstrate engagement via social media analytics, and awareness of best practices as they evolve.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Implementation of social media campaigns in line with SEA digital strategy
  • Oversee administration of social media channels to ensure optimal performance
  • Support with planning social media campaigns including identification of content ideas by reviewing websites, news and monitoring upcoming events
  • Assist in creation of digital assets (primarily using Canva)
  • Write excellent, clear copy for social media
  • Assist in the administration of the SEA digital calendar and campaigns
  • Assist in planning and repackaging of content for other SEA digital media including email marketing campaigns, website and blogs as needed
  • Other responsibilities as required

KEY REQUIREMENTS

  • Excellent written skills, with ability to capture the SEA tone of voice (we will need to see writing samples)
  • Strong proofreading skills
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Understanding of the strategic uses and administration of social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube)
  • Knowledge and understanding of Canva, Mailchimp & WordPress
  • Video production skills an advantage
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills
  • Ability to work autonomously and in a team
  • Willingness to learn

SALARY & BENEFITS

Competitive hourly rate plus super, depending on experience. 12-15 hours per week from home, may vary upon mutual agreement.
