SECCA (Sexuality, Education, Counselling, Consulting Agency) supports people with disability to learn about relationships, sexuality and sexual health. Demand for our therapy and consulting services have never been higher. To meet this demand and better support our client base, we are seeking experienced, creative counsellors to join our team. Potential team members must have a true passion for helping society’s most vulnerable, their families and other carers. We are looking for a demonstrated value-driven professional.

About the opportunity

We are seeking two part-time counsellors available to work on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

Essential Selection Criteria:

  • Trained in counselling (tertiary qualifications may include Psychology, Social Work or related disciplines). Eligibility for registration with relevant professional agency.
  • Sexology, forensic sexology or sexuality training with specific knowledge and understanding of sexuality and sexual health issues.
  • Demonstrated counselling skills around human relationships, sexuality and family therapy.
  • Demonstrated clinical skills and knowledge of trauma informed person-centred therapy .
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of factors affecting people with disability and their families and carers across the lifespan.
  • Experience working with complex, high risks cases.
  • Demonstrated ability to work within a team as well as being able to work autonomously.
  • Current understanding of trends and developments in the biological, psychological and social aspects of human sexuality and behaviour.
  • Analytical, conceptual and problem-solving skills.
  • Communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to SECCA’s mission, vision and values.

Desirable Selection Criteria:

  • Knowledge of funded non-government organisations in the disability sector, how they operate and an understanding of NDIS.
  • Experience in developing and facilitating tailored education and training programs.
