The SELLEN is a community managed regional network made up of local organisations in Melbourne’s South East (Casey, Cardinia, Dandenong). We believe every young person is entitled to equal access to meaningful education and employment and we develop strategies and facilitate initiatives to empower young people to engage in education to achieve smooth transitions and improved life chances.

The Young Mothers Transition Project is a new pilot project that provides individual coaching and case management for young mothers to complete education, develop foundational parenting skills, participate in job focused skills training and secure sustainable employment. The project is for three years (1 October 2021 to 30 September 2024) and provides intensive support that ensures young mothers obtain education, sustainable employment, confidence in parenting, and improved social cohesion and community resilience that leads to better life chances for them and their children.

We are recruiting two qualified, experienced and highly skilled Wellbeing & Transition Coaches to work with young mothers in the region, in particular, those enrolled at the three YPEP (Young Parents Education Program - see video) sites at Hallam, Narre Warren and Cranbourne, as well as other young mothers, to map, plan and action steps to obtaining Year 12, industry certificate qualifications and transitioning smoothly to further education or employment, where coaches continue to provide ongoing coaching and support to young mothers and their employer.

The roles are foundational in contributing to identifying best practice approaches in working with young mothers making the journey to education and sustainable employment.
