SensesWA is a leading not-for-profit organisation, with over 125-years’ history in providing disability services in Western Australia. Our purpose is to build capacity by providing comprehensive disability services and specialising in sensory loss, positive behaviour support and children’s therapies.

Due to an internal promotion, we are looking for a passionate and enthusiastic Chief Operations Officer (COO) to lead our Operations Division. Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, the COO is an integral member of the Executive team and plays an important role in both strategic and operational decision making. The COO will also provide direct line management to the Senior Manager Therapy Services, Senior Manager Community Support Services and Senior Manager Positive Behaviour Support.

Snapshot of the Role

The position is based at our Burswood Head Office and key responsibilities include the following:

  • Provide a positive and strategic contribution to the Executive Leadership Team.
  • Develop the Operations division’s business plan for the Chief Executive Officer’s consideration, in accordance with the organisation’s Strategic Plan, Purpose, Vision and Commitments.
  • Develop the Operations division activities, in accordance with the Strategic Plan and with key organisational and financial performance indicators (KPI’s) for each service delivery area including, but not limited to Community Support and Therapy Services.
  • Identify and pursue external funding opportunities, including grants and tenders to support the ongoing financial viability of the organisation.
  • Contribute to the organisation’s annual budget process with ongoing evaluations regarding the sustainable performance of all operations activities.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with funders, government agencies and contracted services.
  • Promote ethical leadership and a positive culture, aligned to SensesWA Purpose and Commitments.

What you will bring to the role:

  • Passion to work in the disability sector.
  • Tertiary Allied Health qualification and current professional registration.
  • Proven ability to strategise and lead operational teams in the disability sector.
  • Past success in gap analysis and development of new business initiatives; including demonstrated conceptual, analytical, financial, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience in managing multiple stakeholders with competing demands.
  • Demonstrated high level skills in senior management including people leadership and change management, with the ability to guide to consensus outcomes.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing and growing client engagement within the Human Services’ sector.
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to organise and prioritise workloads under pressure.

DESIRABLE

  • Experience in a ‘not-for-profit’ sector environment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the NDIS National Quality and Safeguarding Framework, the disability industry and compliance requirements across a diverse range of funders.

ESSENTIAL COMPLIANCE CRITERIA

  • National Disability Insurance Scheme Worker Screening Clearance in accordance with the National Disability Insurance Scheme (Practice Standards—Worker Screening) Rules 2018.
  • Current and Valid WA Working with Children Check (WWCC) may be required as advised by the manager or supervisor in accordance with SensesWA policy.
  • Provide evidence of COVID-19 Vaccination as required under the WA Government Public Health Order effective 1 December 2021 (Public Health Act 2016 (WA)).
  • Current motor vehicle driver’s licence.
  • Will be required to travel or work across and/or be located at any of the SensesWA locations. Intra and interstate travel may be required.
