The Manager of the Women’s Shelter Armidale Inc. (WSA) leads the organisation and is also a leader in the community on issues of domestic and family violence (DFV) and homelessness.

WSA is entering an exciting period of change and growth with crisis service provision shifting from a congregate living model to core and cluster including a $1.6 million addition to the existing facility by the Dept. of Communities and Justice.

The Manager is responsible for leading the service through this period of change including development and delivery the strategic plan, overseeing all operations, compliance, staff management and financial health of the organisation.

The successful applicant will have a strong commitment to eradicating domestic violence and homelessness and reducing the impacts of DFV on women and children. She will have a deep understanding the complex nature of DFV and homelessness and the strategies used to deliver effective outcomes. Robust leadership and change management skills paired with flexibility and ability to innovate are essential.

Other key work will involve leading the delivery of the service’s Outcomes Measurement approach and the achievement of ASES quality accreditation.

Operating since 1978 WSA delivers crisis accommodation, 24/7 on call support, outreach, transitional housing and education programs to women and children who are experiencing or at risk of DFV and /or homelessness. WSA advocates for systemic changes that will build safer and stronger communities.
