The Smith Family is a national, independent children’s charity helping disadvantaged Australians to get the most out of their education, so they can create better futures for themselves. We are now seeking a National Manager, Strategy to join our team.

Reporting to the Acting Head of Strategy and working with a dedicated and high-energy team, this pivotal role will manage The Smith Family’s Strategy team and activities, including strategy development, strategic planning, oversight of the organisation’s investment portfolio, strategic initiatives and strategic advice and support to leaders.

A day in the life of a National Manager, Strategy might look like this, but every day can be different. Primarily, your key responsibilities will be to:

• In conjunction with the Acting Head of Strategy, facilitate the successful implementation of The Smith Family’s five-year strategy
• Manage the development and delivery of The Smith Family’s digital and innovation strategies, including working closely with senior stakeholders across the organisation
• Drive the implementation and improvement of organisation’s Business Planning Framework
• Support and advise leaders on strategic opportunities and challenges, including providing guidance on frameworks and facilitating strategic thinking
• Lead and/or support the design and delivery of key strategy offsite workshops
• Collaborate with key stakeholders, including Agile squad Business Owners and National Managers, to build alignment and identify common challenges and opportunities

It takes a special kind of person to be our National Manager, Strategy. Our successful candidate will bring the following:

• Qualifications in Strategy or Business or equivalent experience
• Demonstrated experience in strategy development and strategic planning
• Proven ability to manage complex, concurrent, multi-stakeholder, time-sensitive projects
• Experience with innovation approaches, including Design Thinking / Human-Centred Design
• Demonstrated ability to influence and positively engage stakeholders
• Ability to drive outcomes and ‘make things happen’
• Confident, credible, and articulate communication skills
• Proven ability to lead a high performing team
• Experience in facilitation of workshops
