The Smith Family is an independent children's charity helping Australian children living in disadvantage to get the most out of their education, so they can create better futures for themselves. As we lead up to our Centenary, it’s an exciting time to be joining our family. We are currently seeking a Volunteer Coordination Unit (VCU) Coordinator to help us achieve The Smith Family’s vision. Reporting to the Volunteer Coordination Unit Team Leader and working with a dedicated, energised, and passionate team in a fast-paced environment.

A day in the life of a VCU Coordinator might look like this, but every day can be different.

Primarily, you will be responsible for:

  • Oversee the day to day activities of volunteers involved in registering, screening and matching high volumes of Smith Family volunteers to programs, projects and other business activities nationally
  • Develop and implement goals and objectives for the VCU Volunteer Team which reflect the objectives of the organisation
  • One of the key project areas for this role is the recruitment and onboarding of new administration volunteers
  • Initiate ongoing evaluation of the performance of the VCU Volunteer Team and develop strategies to achieve best practice
  • Work with a national team to ensure service delivery meets service level agreements and risks to this are identified, communicated and managed

Our successful candidate will bring the following:

  • Experience providing effective administrative and customer focussed service within a professional and confidential environment
  • Experience in volunteer management and/or volunteer screening and registration
  • Experience using a CRM Database, and ability to support others in the use of various communication systems
  • Highly developed organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines
  • An openness to change and adapt to new technologies in a fast-paced environment
