We are currently looking for a Youth and Community Coordinator to join our team for 12 months (maternity leave cover). The Youth and Community Coordinator will be responsible for overseeing the delivery of the GPs in Schools program in local secondary schools.

Key outcomes:

  • Engage with and manage key stakeholders including primary care practitioners and school personnel to deliver the GPs in Schools program across the Sydney north region.
  • Manage the implementation of the program efficiently and effectively including management of resources, finances and measurement and evaluations.
  • Collaborate with other providers in the region to provide strategic, collaborative high quality and appropriate activities to youth.
  • Work with the various Youth and Community Interagencies and other external stakeholders to inform the direction of Youth Health and the PHN.

The ideal candidate will have the following:

Essential:

  • Health or health program delivery with experience in youth health promotion
  • Experience formulating measurable goals and objectives to inform a health promotion program
  • Experience in establishing successful partnerships with relevant organisations and facilitating collaborative action
  • Demonstrated ability and experience in the design, delivery and evaluation of community based education projects which utilise evidence based strategies
  • Demonstrated ability to write reports and other written communication for a variety of audiences
  • Experience working as part of a multi-disciplinary team across multiple projects with the ability to apply effective interpersonal skills
  • Understanding of health promotion theory and practical application.
  • Current NSW drivers’ license and access to a comprehensively insured motor vehicle – a requirement of the role.
  • National Police Clearance Check.
  • Working with Children Check.
  • Reference Checks (2) from past employers.

Desirable:

  • Tertiary qualifications in health promotion, public health, social science (with a health promotion major), health education or related field.
  • Qualifications in a health related field e.g. Health Science, Nurse etc
  • Experience in the Australian health care sector.
  • Knowledge of Australian Health Care Reform and key stakeholders

Remuneration:

A base salary commensurate with the not-for-profit sector will be provided and as a not-for-profit, attractive salary packaging options are available.

Special conditions:

This is a full-time role for up to 12 months (maternity leave cover).

Some out of hours work on weekends or evenings may be required, for example, attendance at community forums or meetings, for which time off in lieu may be taken.
