Learn about the position:

The PACE Project Officer will be responsible for coordinating the Physical Activity and Community Engagement (PACE) program to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in the Northern, Western and Southern regions of Metropolitan Adelaide. The PACE program is a group based physical activity program that aims to promote social inclusion through physical activity and exercise. The project officer will support the coordination of the program through operational, administrative and marketing responsibilities.

*This position is an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Identified position and is exempt under the Equal Opportunity Act (1984). The position will only be open to those who identify as of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent*

Reporting directly to the Health Promotion Coordinator, your responsibilities will be:

  • Provide administrative and operational support to the PACE program team
  • Record and manage client data and information in relevant databases.
  • Facilitate community co-design of the PACE program, including consultation with internal Sonder teams, the Sonder Aboriginal Health Reference Group (AHRG), Sonder clients, community members and relevant external organisations
  • Research, understand and interpret relevant WHS legislation and Sonder policies/procedures in order to provide ‘expert advice’ to assigned client groups to ensure compliance and mitigate risks for Sonder and its employees

Experience requirements:

  • Demonstrated experience in planning and delivering group-based exercise or physical activity programs
  • Experience in providing education about physical activity and/or nutrition to groups or individuals
  • Experience in working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and the ability to provide culturally appropriate support.

Qualification requirements:

  • Certificate level qualification in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care, and/or relevant training and experience in health/community services fields
