Spectrum has supported Melbourne’s migrant and refugee communities to ‘feel at home’ in Australia for more than forty years. Our group facilitators work to enable full social and economic participation for our clients in all aspects of Australian life. While our group facilitators work across a range of funded programs, the primary focus of this role will be in the coordination and facilitation of our Parenting In a New Culture program.
Parenting In a New Culture (PINC):
Spectrum’s PINC program provides comprehensive, evidence-based and culturally responsive parenting education and support to parents from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds, and engages them in addressing the challenges and the opportunities of navigating parenting and family life in a new cultural context. PINC explores the differences in parenting norms between participants’ new country and their country of origin, and aims to instil enhanced parental skills and confidence and improved family functioning and child wellbeing. It explores the settlement journey, the intergenerational conflict that often accompanies the migrant experience and the specific gendered experiences of parents across cultures.
Spectrum’s group facilitators coordinate all aspects of our group activities, from stakeholder liaison, program promotion and procurement of participants, to program design and facilitation, to evaluation and reporting.
Our group facilitators also develop and deliver professional development workshops to both internal and external stakeholders, with the aim of developing the professional capacity and knowledge of staff to work more effectively with newly arrived families with CALD backgrounds.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a business on the brink of long-term sustainable change where your participation will see you recognised as a leader in the sector. The position offers an excellent salary package (including NFP salary packaging).
Please note that all appointments are made subject to satisfactory completion of Spectrum Safety Screening requirements.
