SSRV is an independent, state-wide community legal centre that specialises in social security and related law, policy and procedure. Our vision is for a fair and just society in which all people are able to receive a guaranteed adequate income in order to enjoy a decent standard of living. SSRV provides of legal services to vulnerable and disadvantaged Victorians, and those who support them, which assist them to secure and protect their right to equitable social security entitlements.

THE ROLE

This position will co-ordinate SSRV initiatives to better understand and respond to social security legal need arising from bushfires, pandemics and other disasters. The position will also assist the organisation to plan to ensure operational continuity and service availability in these circumstances. The Project Worker will engage and work collaboratively with other SSRV staff and external stakeholders and activities to achieve project objectives.

Key deliverables for the position include:

  1. Develop and implement Project Plan.
  2. Design, undertake and report on a Social Security Legal Assistance Disaster Legal Needs Analysis.
  3. Develop SSRV Disaster Preparedness and Response Plan (with outward and inward focus).
  4. Develop SSRV Disaster Preparedness and Response Implementation Plan, communicate and co-ordinate implementation.
  5. Undertake reporting and accountability activities.

WE ARE SEEKING AN EXPERIENCED AND DYNAMIC PROFESSIONAL WITH

  • Demonstrated experience and success in project design, management and implementation (preferably in legal assistance and/or disaster responses areas).
  • Demonstrated experience in working and developing effective relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Strong conceptual, analytical, research and consultation skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both autonomously and in collaboration with others.
  • Competence in use of Microsoft Office programs and experience in using databases.
