As a Sustainable Environment Officer you'll develop and deliver community-focused environmental sustainability education and behaviour change programs and events to help us deliver our 2030 zero carbon targets.

You'll be responsible for:

  • Enhancing the community's knowledge of and actions towards environmental sustainability through engaging behaviour changes programs, events and educational programs
  • Developing communication plans, programs, and materials
  • Collaborating with internal units to provide advice related to environmental projects and programs
  • Adding value to the planning, implementation, evaluation and reporting of environmental projects
  • Supporting Council's climate emergency response.

This is a permanent full time position with an annual salary range of $88,661 to $96,020 per annum + 10% superannuation and a monthly Accrued Day Off (ADO) arrangement. We are seeking someone who can commence in the position as soon as possible.

We're looking for someone with:

  • Experience in delivering environmental education and behavioural change strategies, programs and events
  • Communication and collaboration skills to work with people from a range of different backgrounds
  • Project management skills
  • Experience in a sustainable environment advisory or project role
  • Tertiary qualification in sustainability, environmental management / science, community engagement, education or related discipline
