This position will lead the transformation of the City of Stonnington towards a zero waste and circular economy future. You will lead the implementation of the Victorian government’s circular economy waste and recycling reforms into Council’s operations and service delivery, including options for glass recycling and the introduction of a container deposit scheme. You will also play a key role in finalising Council’s new Zero Waste and Circular Economy strategy and its implementation.

You will drive zero waste and circular economy principles throughout Council and within the Stonnington community through designing and implementing projects, programs and initiatives. Using your skills in building relationships, working collaboratively and creative thinking, you will work in partnership with a range of stakeholders to avoid waste and maximise reuse.

This is an exciting new position within Council and will play a vital role in helping to create a more sustainable Stonnington.

The successful candidate will require knowledge of waste policy and programs across local, state and federal government levels and experience in designing, implementing and evaluating waste and/or circular economy policies and programs.

You will have an excellent ability to develop relationships and work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders to achieve positive waste and resource recovery outcomes as well as strong project management skills.

You will need to have analytical, investigative and problem solving skills along with an ability to communicate clearly and effectively to a variety of audiences.

Also, a tertiary qualification in environmental management or science, sustainability, waste and resource recovery or other related discipline and/or extensive practical experience together with relevant experience.
