St Vincent de Paul Society Victoria exists to provide support to people across Victoria. For over 165 years we have been in Victoria assisting people through the challenges of poverty and exclusion address suffering, advocating against inequality and promoting human dignity and self-determination.

Overall, the group of companies of St Vincent de Paul Society Victoria has many arms and services. These include soup vans, education programs, home visitation programs and VincentCare Victoria, which provides a range of services and programs for people who are experiencing or at risk of homelessness and disadvantage. They also provide crisis accommodation, drug and alcohol dependency programs, and housing.

Our network of 110 Vinnies Shops across the state also play a key part in funding our many programs and services and providing material assistance to people we help.

The Role

This is an opportunity to join our Governance Risk and Compliance Team, working across our Shared Services as part of St Vincent de Paul Society Victoria group and VincentCare Victoria.

The Risk Officer will be an integral member of the team reporting to the General Manager and supporting them in their role, as well as working with multiple Stockholders across both organisation, providing support and guidance and ensuring risk and compliance requirements are understood and meet.

The role of Risk Officer would be perfect for someone looking to start their career in RiskManagement, or is a recent graduate looking to enter the workforce. You will be highly motivated and, have a willingness to learn. A strong attention to detail and relationship skills will help you succeed. Even if you have never thought of yourself working with Risk Management, this role will enable you to obtain an understanding of all areas of the organisations.

Selection Criteria:

Qualification:

  • A degree in Law, Commerce, Finance or equivalent would be desirable, however experience working in a similar organisation, or a role where you have demonstrated strong analytical skills, with attention to detail, and understanding the importance of process would be welcomed.

Knowledge and Experience:

  • Risk and compliance management experience
  • Working knowledge of Australian Risk and Compliance standards
  • Previous working experience in a role, where attention to detail, strong administrative and relational skills.

Skills and Attributes:

  • High level communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to work in consultation and collaboration with staff at all levels;
  • Excellent writing and analytical skills including a demonstrated ability to prepare reports using clear, concise language and data; organise information into a logical sequence and include content appropriate for the purpose and audience;
  • Highly developed work organisation and project management skills with the capacity to manage competing priorities and respond to emerging needs;
  • Proven ability to lead, motivate, support and influence organisational change and commitment to achieving a top-down, bottom-up risk awareness culture;
  • Excellent time management and ability to work on numerous tasks with multiple departments simultaneously;
  • High attention to detail;
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify trends, and ability to critically and analytically solve problems.
