The St Vincent de Paul Society is a leading provider of community support services and has been assisting people experiencing disadvantage in NSW for more than 130 years. The Role

Role sits within the Homelessness and Housing team of Vinnies Services that support people experiencing homelessness or are at risk of homelessness. In this Administration Assistant role, you will provide general administrative support in the busy volunteering department. There are tasks that involve manual handling; liaising with staff and volunteers is very much part of your daily work. Your keen eye for detail, ability to work in an organised manner, and self-motivation will help ease the pressure brought on by the increasing demands on the team to grow the number of volunteers within the homelessness services in the inner city region.

An exciting part in your transition to this role is the training you're being provided in using Society People (Volunteer Management System). To successfully complete this training, all you need is a genuine interest and flexibility to learn something new.

Responsibilities of this role include but are not limited to:

  • Receiving and responding to phone calls, emails and other general correspondence; direct call. messages and emails to appropriate staff
  • Responding to enquiries and requests from volunteers
  • Undertaking general administrative duties i.e. data entry, photocopying, document management, preparing promotional materials etc
  • Assisting in the preparations for meetings
  • Organising delivery of goods requested by volunteers

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Demonstrated experience in administrative procedures.
  • Good written and oral communication skills, including good interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to relate positively and confidently with a wide range of people.
  • Good organisational skills and ability to prioritise tasks in a busy environment.
  • Strong attention to accuracy and detail.
  • Willingness to work within the Society's Code of Conduct and ability to maintain an ethical, yet non- judgmental, attitude towards volunteers, clients and staff, and a commitment to this.
  • Demonstrated ability to use client database and Microsoft Office packages such as Word, Excel, Outlook.
