Your new role

Amazing opportunity for a Case Worker to join a highly supportive team at Fred's Place in Tweed Heads. In this dynamic and highly rewarding role you will be providing essential Case Work support, which will be influential in helping people stabilise and sustain their accommodation, and ultimately assisting them to find pathways away from homelessness.

Your responsibilities

  • Develop case plans with the clients, provide ongoing support and reviews to achieve the case plan.
  • Maintain client records and case notes, both electronic and hand written, in a professional manner as per service policy.
  • Engage with persons sleeping rough and/or those people in danger of becoming homeless.
  • Create collaborative partnerships with other key stakeholders and services.
  • Occasionally training and providing support to student placements at the service.
  • Refer clients to appropriate external services and link to life skill and educational programs.
  • Provide a safe and welcoming environment for clients who live at, or are accessing the service
  • Engage with persons sleeping rough and/or those people in danger of becoming homeless

This role will report to the Team Leader, Fred's Place

To be successful, you will need:

  • Minimum TAFE Certificate IV or currently undertaking tertiary study, in welfare field and or extensive experience in the field.
  • Excellent written/oral communication skills & sound computer skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Previous experience providing support to marginalised and vulnerable people (ideally within a homelessness/housing setting)
  • Knowledge of issues relating to homelessness i.e family breakdown, mental illness, drug, alcohol and gambling addictions.
  • Awareness of appropriate local community support services for homeless clients, including government agencies and NGO's, and the capacity to build and maintain strong relationships with such service providers.
  • It is a condition of employment that you comply with the Society's Pandemic Policy - COVID-19 & Public Health Orders in order to work in or enter Society facilities. In accordance with our policy, you will be required to provide evidence of your vaccination status or a valid medical exemption as part of the resourcing process.
